paishodown: (I MADE A THING)

4th gear | video

[Here's someone who hasn't been on the network so much lately. When Asami appears on the camera, anyone who hasn't seen her recently will notice that she looks a bit older.]

I finished it!

[Stepping away from the camera, she reveals a hotel courtyard with various tools and scraps scattered about. A metal contraption that appears to be some kind of battery sits a safe distance away at the center of the shot.]

At home, we employ lightningbenders to make our electricity. They shoot energy straight into batteries, and it can be stored efficiently without having to burn coal. I'm hoping I can get something to work similarly with Pokémon's electric attacks.

[She glances off camera.]

When you're ready, Supāku.

[A Flaafy shuffles onto the camera, winds up, and releases an electric attack at the metal conductors of Asami's invention. After several moments, an indicator meter on the device's facade turns to maximum, and the Flaafy stops.]

I think it worked!

[Asami trots over to the device with another 'Gear in hand (sorry Korra, she had to steal yours for science purposes) and plugs it in.]

It's charging!

[She turns back to the camera.]

I'm hoping I can continue working with this idea and eventually come up with something small enough for trainers to keep on their person while they're traveling. The technology here is evolved so much farther than at home, I think it might be possible.

[Makes sense. Though there is something she wants to know...]

What is a bender?

[personal profile] crackpotcrocker 2015-04-08 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
That's besides the point! Why you could even find a way to use fire from the Fire Pokemon for this or any other possibilities!

... What exactly is a 'lightbender', mmm?
codeforhope: (● don't get too close)

[personal profile] codeforhope 2015-04-08 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
I see...and you say you think you might be able to make this portable, in the future? Like a battery.

[ That sounds awfully familiar. ]

Are you a bender?
imperfectscientist: (sciencing)

[personal profile] imperfectscientist 2015-04-08 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm that's a very subjective question, isn't it? I have no idea what your world considers "advanced" so based on that criteria, our world could be severely outdated to very advanced. The town I live in isn't exactly famous for our advanced technology, but I myself am a scientist, so I'm knowledgeable about scientific equipment and had to make some adjustments on the fly when my instruments weren't sufficient.

[if it didn't blow up in his face if he let a Pikachu jolt it up, it did sound promising. it wasn't a long conversation, but hey, while he's on his way out of Route 29 and moving ahead, props are owed where he can see them]

Keep up the good work.

[he could give props to hard work when he saw it]

Oh!

[ She looks a little embarrassed at that outburst. ]

Um... you're from Korra's world?

There's only four elements?

[Lightning looks surprised. Was that all there was in their world?]
foolishwren: but perhaps through the fairies, we could ask Mothra for help! (it may sound primitive or unscientific..)

Whoa!

That's awesome.

You should patent that shit! I can't count the number of times my freakin' Gear's run out of battery when I'm in like... the middle of nowhere.
codeforhope: (● the way the words do)

[personal profile] codeforhope 2015-04-10 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
That makes sense. Maybe you can just start off with something large that you know can handle it, and then keep making smaller prototypes from there?

Oh!

[Elsa looks surprised, and actually a bit excited, to hear that.]

That would be wonderful. I'm sure Anna would love to meet the two of you. As would I... it's been some time since I've talked to my friends in person.

[My friends... the term still feels so odd coming from her mouth.]

Lightning, darkness, light, ice... you don't have those?

Mm. I've talked to her only once, but... she was very kind.

I'm Naminé.

Well, the technology is certainly unfamiliar, and most of it is related to Pokemon, which as far as I know, don't exist in my world. However, we do have somewhat similar technology in some cases. For example, the gear is fairly similar to a combination of a iPad and a cellphone.

[What a gorgeous young woman! Do pardon Ringabel for a moment as he admires her beauty. It's in his nature, after all.

But once he's absorbed her physical features, he's quick to shift focus to the actual subject of the video. Lightningbenders? He assumes they specialize in Thunder spells. And using such magic to power batteries is ingenious, to say the least.

He'll give her a small round of applause once the Flaafy does its work, smiling brightly at the camera.]

Impressive! It's always a joy to see people step outside the bounds of Pokémon battles. Though, if you don't mind me asking, how might one utilize these batteries?
