[It's around midday, and Asami's 'Gear is propped up to record her sitting at a small table in the park. Her Riolu sits quietly beside her. The worn table is inlaid with a chess board, and the seat across from her is empty for now.]

Where I'm from, we have a game called Pai Sho.

[She speaks while she reaches into her bag to pull out a newly purchased chess set- mainly, the directions.]

It's a game of careful thinking and ruthless strategy. There doesn't seem to be a real equivalent here, but someone did point me toward this. Chess.

[Asami begins taking out the pieces and laying them out on the board.]

Anyone know anything about it?

[She'll be here for a while, reading over the rules and trying to teach Teruko how to play with her.]

[Sorry girl.] Katara and Korra have kind of... been here many times, and then been sent back home and came back again. Katara usually remembers everything, but Korra's always been back without memories of this place. I think the last time was -- a long time ago? Over two years for Katara at least. [wow, has it really been that long...? She's like a sister to Winry, so uh, suddenly realizing that is kind of... ouch.] Um, I saw Bolin around once when Korra was here for the first time or so. Ty Lee too, but it's been kind of forever since I've seen Sokka or the others.

... Sorry I guess it sounds bad. But you know, they could come back any day too. I-It's still really nice to meet you. My name is Winry.

[Asami sits in stunned silence for a moment. It's been years? There isn't even any logic to it... Does that mean that people come here and forget they were ever even here at all? Like time stopped for a while and brought them here?

She snaps herself out of it, after a brief moment.]

I'm Asami. Did... Korra ever mention me?

[She can at least pinpoint when Korra was "from," if the answer is 'yes'.]

I'm ...not sure. It's been a really long time since I last saw her. Last time I think she was mostly worried about probending shows after just getting into the team.

[Asami isn't sure if she should be relieved or disappointed... Should she even have an opinion? There isn't nearly enough information about all of this for her to be able to make any sense of it. Why even try?]

Then... she might not have known me, at that point. When did you last see her? Was it more than seven or eight months ago?

Mm, somewhere around there. [You'd think a girl would know to not say about these things at this point of her staying here.]

But people tend to come back here when you least expect them to wake up in that strange woman's house, and then they can also be from whatever time of their life too so... if she ever comes back [or when, because apparently it's a thing from their world too.] she might know you really well too.

Yes? We have very advanced prosthetic limbs called automail where I come from! I work with them from building one from a scratch to installing them to people who need them to maintaining the ones I've made. Well, and I've been mostly "just" a regular mechanic here, doing whatever a mechanic can do here, but that's what I do for living back home.

We build cars, air ships, planes, and boats, predominantly. I've never heard of anything called 'automail' before, though.

We have cars, and extremely uncomfortable trains. I've seen boats and ferries here and I've heard about planes! Airships, what are those? We're not really that far in technology back where I'm from, but we'll get there one day.

Don't worry, I think it's a thing back where I come from only, no one's ever heard of them. I could show you the one I have here with me!

Airships are... just what they sound like? Giant flying ships that are meant for transporting a lot of people or cargo.

Huh, that sounds so neat! Maybe we'll get them too one day, when things have been calm for a while back home...

[Though now she's just imagining a flying ship and trying to not think how people might fall of from it... While she goes to find a box, it's a big box.]

[shhh, carrying it around is easy with pokemon... well, that and she could leave it if she had a house of her own again.]

Sort... of? These wires here [see, she even points at the two coming out from it.] there should be more of them, but this whole thing is more like just an example.

But if there were more of them and if i made the parts to connect it into a human or an animal, then it would be. They're kind of complicated in that they take electricity into themselves from the movement of muscles and body to work properly, so without all the wires and complicated surgery, it'd be more like a normal prosthesis [OR NOT WORK AT ALL.] -- buuuuut if they're done the right way, then they work more like a normal limb than a prosthesis.

It is really incredible! Some people even hide mini weapons inside these -- not that I support those unless they're in the hands of people, who use them for self-protection only.

But your tech sounds amazing too! My home world has had many wars, so our technology with these became really advanced because people need them so much...
