Christmas is in a few days, and the atmosphere in the city as people get ready is... amazing. We don't have a holiday quite like this in the United Republic.

[Asami is bundled up at a café in Goldenrod with a mug of tea.]

[Asami took a few extra steps before calling Korra at dinner time, mostly involving touching up her makeup and making sure her hair was in order. And that her outfit was well-coordinated. She had laughed to herself, shaking her head at the mirror. She knew what the nervous fussing was about, but she kept doing it even though she knew it was completely unnecessary.

Korra won't even notice, if her stockings don't perfectly match her belt.

She's zipped Korra a quick message that she's on her way, and now she's waiting by the stand in Goldenrod, bundled up against the early winter chill.]

[Well, Asami, this girl here might notice how you're looking snazzy as always but she won't say it this time.

She sends her a quick reply, that she's on her way too and well, this is Korra, she's not taking those extra steps. Just making sure she looks okay to go by giving herself a quick look from a window. Who'd want to give bad impressions of themselves on best friends birthday? Not this Avatar.

Asami won't have to wait for long, a couple of minutes maybe, before Korra arrives there too! She grins at her before she rushes in for a hug. It's cold in winter, have a warming hug as a hello.]

I hope you didn't have to wait for too long?

[ONLY THREE YEARS!! ...no but the real thing here is that ... Naga the Arcanine is trying to cuddle her face at them both too while there's the hug.]

[Asami's hand lingers on Korra's shoulder for a moment as she approaches the cart to order their dinner.]

[Naga missed you, but at least she's not tackling them both to the ground! Starving? Korra gives a laugh at that.]

Well, I don't want you to starve but I'm kind of starving too, so yes, let's go.

[She looks at the other woman while Asami's hand lingers there, her look is gentle.

Better leave some room for some dessert, best friend, the Avatar is going to take you to celebrate your birthday after this!

But right now? Walking to that cart and trying to think what she'll order. And don't even think she'll let you pay for this on your special day, girlfriend!]

[Asami stands in front of the cart, relaying her order to the young man behind the tiny counter as she reaches into her purse for money. When she's handed her dish, she steps aside so that Korra can place her order.]

She says her own order so fast, that she needs to actually repeat it because some people don't understand her faster than extreme speed lines. And that's okay.
