[Here's someone who hasn't been on the network so much lately. When Asami appears on the camera, anyone who hasn't seen her recently will notice that she looks a bit older.]

I finished it!

[Stepping away from the camera, she reveals a hotel courtyard with various tools and scraps scattered about. A metal contraption that appears to be some kind of battery sits a safe distance away at the center of the shot.]

At home, we employ lightningbenders to make our electricity. They shoot energy straight into batteries, and it can be stored efficiently without having to burn coal. I'm hoping I can get something to work similarly with Pokémon's electric attacks.

[She glances off camera.]

When you're ready, Supāku.

[A Flaafy shuffles onto the camera, winds up, and releases an electric attack at the metal conductors of Asami's invention. After several moments, an indicator meter on the device's facade turns to maximum, and the Flaafy stops.]

I think it worked!

[Asami trots over to the device with another 'Gear in hand (sorry Korra, she had to steal yours for science purposes) and plugs it in.]

It's charging!

[She turns back to the camera.]

I'm hoping I can continue working with this idea and eventually come up with something small enough for trainers to keep on their person while they're traveling. The technology here is evolved so much farther than at home, I think it might be possible.

[still on the road of Route 29, Archer took the time to check his PokéGear for any new tidbits of info, and perhaps to tune into the radio to see what else was on. too bad Archer didn't have an Electric type of his own. or else he might have given this a try himself]

I'm not too much of a Pokémon battler, but the innovation opportunities Pokémon present are definitely something worth exploring! The best technology takes full advantage of working in sync with nature.

I see. So how long do you expect that battery to stay charged?

[Thanks to being in Johto for a while now, Elsa knows enough about electricity and more "modern" technology that this whole thing doesn't go completely over her head. Even so, she looks pretty awed during Asami's display, and claps when it's over.]

Thank you! I can't really take credit for the idea, but it translates into the technology of this world even better than I could have hoped.

[Asami tips her head.]

It will open things up for trainers on the road, at the very least. If I can get this thing small enough to fit reasonably into a bag.

[Even if the bags have that weird endless space thing going on, it's an inconvenient size.]

What would the purpose be—to could carry electricity with us?

So that we can charge our things on the road. Flashlights, our 'Gears, we could plug in portable hot plates for cooking, and all without wasting dirty fuels.

How long have you been working on this?

Thank you. I can't take credit for the original idea, though. I'm just appropriating it. I've been working on this for a few weeks, so this is a very early stage.

The idea, admittedly, isn't mine. But I am an inventor back home.

[It's still sometimes a little weird, thinking of herself as one. But that's what she's become these past few years, it's it?]

I'm still getting used to how advanced the technology here is, so I'm starting with the basics.

I prefer engineer.

[Asami isn't bothered by a lukewarm response. She isn't particularly impressed with herself, either.]

But I'm still getting used to figuring out all the new technologies here, so I'm starting with something I already mostly know.

[ The apprehension in Naminé's eyes is probably painfully apparent. Still, this woman doesn't seem bad at all. On the contrary, she seems nice. And pretty. But she can't disguise how curious she looks--or how impressed, either. ]

Oh- yes, at home, some people are benders, which means they can manipulate the elements. Advanced firebenders can produce lightning, though it's very exhausting. It's similar to an electric type's attacks, really.

That's fantastic! [As a scientist who's the proud owner of a Mareep named Tesla, Carlos is pretty excited about Asami's display.] That's a really interesting idea. I don't quite understand all the terminology you used when you talked about how you accomplished it in your own world, but if you'd like any help working on your idea here, I'd be happy to help!

As far as I know, a lot of terminology is singular to my world. The adjustment has admittedly taken some time. But help is always appreciated! Do you come from somewhere more advanced with electronics?

[Someone's been looking for her pokegear and she can't find it anywhere. So maybe at this point it's better to ask -- not that she couldn't ask anytime, but at least she's been trying to find it!

She walks in right as it's charging, though she fails to notice her device there. Actually she'll be just looking at Asami and listening to her too until she's done with speaking to the network. Cute.]

Hey, have you seen my gear? I can't seem to find it anywhere...

[Asami gives Korra a little smile when she approaches, but raises her eyebrows when she asks about her gear.]

Oh! It's over here. Sorry, I needed mine to actually take the video.

[She reaches for Korra's gear and unplugs it from her invention. Thankfully, no disasters. The connection seems safe and stable.]

You should patent that shit! I can't count the number of times my freakin' Gear's run out of battery when I'm in like... the middle of nowhere.

I guess it would be legal, as long as the rights aren't already owned in this world.

At the very least, it would be good for distribution, however I choose to go about it.

But once he's absorbed her physical features, he's quick to shift focus to the actual subject of the video. Lightningbenders? He assumes they specialize in Thunder spells. And using such magic to power batteries is ingenious, to say the least.

He'll give her a small round of applause once the Flaafy does its work, smiling brightly at the camera.]

Impressive! It's always a joy to see people step outside the bounds of Pokémon battles. Though, if you don't mind me asking, how might one utilize these batteries?

The idea will be to get the final prototype as small as possible, so that they can be carried on the road. This is how we get all of our electricity back home, but our storage of power isn't anywhere near as efficient as it is here, so there are fresh opportunities to take advantage of.
